100 Bowls
“100 Bowls of Taitung” is an event logo created for Taiwan News – 500 Words, which curated 100 dining spots in Taitung. The logo draws inspiration from the crackle glaze pattern often seen in Taiwanese ceramic techniques. It represents a full dining cycle—from resting chopsticks, to eating, and finally placing the bowl upside down after washing.
In addition to embedding the three Chinese characters 100, Tai (台), and Dong (東) into the logo, the shapes themselves collectively symbolize 100 bowls. In the accompanying journal, common ingredients from Taitung are also incorporated into Chinese characters using the same approach, visually connecting the idea of “100 Bowls” back to the origins of food.
